In alignment with the Victorian Government’s Social Enterprise Strategy, Banyule Council’s Social Enterprise and Local Jobs team is working to achieve positive social and economic outcomes for the community of Banyule. ASRC Cleaning has partnered with Banyule Council to expand our cleaning services help deliver employment opportunities to people seeking asylum and refugees in Banyule, and demonstrate the power of social enterprise to support the goals of local councils.
“Bringing this social enterprise into Banyule gives people a springboard to get their lives back on track and instil them with a real sense of purpose” Banyule Mayor Cr Wayne Phillips said.
‘I want to be the best. I’m a fighter, I never give up on things. Even when there are challenges I never give up on things. I will always give my best, my all.’
For Beka, working with ASRC Cleaning was far from the life and job she left behind to seek safety in Australia. But a fortuitous cleaning job gave her the chance to shine, and open up a whole new future of possibility in the corporate world.
While the launch of a new website may seem like a basic first step for modern business, for ASRC Cleaning it’s part of a huge step forward and marks the next phase in our mission to change the employment landscape for people seeking asylum.
